IT consulting for Brisbane organisations, with an office in Brisbane

Beyond Technology has an office in the Brisbane CBD. Our consultants advise Queensland boards and executive teams on technology strategy, reviews and procurement, and we sell nothing but the advice. When a decision needs someone in the room, we can be there.

Independent and vendor neutral. The advice is the product; nothing else is for sale.

An office in the CBD, so we can be in the room

Beyond Technology has an office in the Brisbane CBD, so the parts of IT consulting that work better face to face, a board briefing, a vendor negotiation, a walk through a site, are straightforward to arrange.

Queensland organisations tend to be multi-site by nature. Head office in Brisbane, operations from the Gold Coast to the regions, and a technology estate that grew one site at a time. Connectivity, remote support and the cost of duplicated systems are strategic questions here rather than administrative ones, and they come up in almost every review we run.

The state is also heading into a decade of infrastructure delivery, which will pull contractors and specialist skills toward the large projects. Organisations that need the same people for their own technology work will pay more for them later than they would now, so sequencing matters.

Who we work with in Queensland

Health, aged care and community services operating across multiple Queensland sites. Professional services, education and not-for-profit organisations with a board that wants an independent view. Construction, engineering and resources services firms supplying larger projects under client security and assurance obligations.

How an engagement works

Most engagements start with a conversation and an independent look at what you run, what it costs and where the risk sits. From there the work is scoped to the decision in front of you: a strategy, a review, a procurement, or ongoing CIO-level advice on a weekly cadence. When the first question is cost, providers or risk, an IT audit in Brisbane is often where that starts, or a cyber security audit when the question is security alone. Brisbane is one of three offices behind Beyond Technology’s technology consulting across Australia. Comparing firms first? Read how to choose a technology consulting firm.

The problem

Nobody in the room is independent

In Queensland the common pattern is an estate that grew site by site, with a provider in each region and no single view of the whole. Most organisations we meet in Brisbane have an IT provider, a handful of software vendors, and nobody inside whose job is to judge whether any of it is right. Every voice in the conversation earns money from the answer, which is a difficult position to make good decisions from.

Your IT provider also writes your strategy

The organisation running your operations is the one advising you on what to buy next, which is poor governance no matter how good they are.

We review the provider and the plan without wanting either job. We do not deliver implementation work.

You are paying for things nobody has reviewed

Licences, circuits, backups and support tiers accumulate quietly, and the invoice becomes the only record of what was decided.

The assessment starts by finding what you are actually paying for and whether it is still being used.

Advice that was written for someone else

Most technology advice is written for a different organisation: bigger, smaller, or in another industry, with a budget and a risk appetite that are not yours.

Every recommendation is sized to your real constraints, or it is not a recommendation.

Where we would start

Where we usually start in Brisbane

First

A plain inventory of what the organisation actually runs and pays for across every site, because the invoice is usually the only record of what was decided.

Second

A read on which technology work depends on scarce specialist skills, so it can be sequenced ahead of the infrastructure pipeline rather than behind it.

Third

A governance rhythm the executive team will keep: a short monthly technology agenda, owned by someone, instead of a steering committee that meets when something breaks.

Why independence matters

We have nothing to sell you except the advice

Beyond Technology does not sell hardware or software, does not resell vendor products, and does not deliver the implementation work we recommend. Every consultant here holds an engineering qualification and an MBA, so the recommendation arrives in commercial terms. That is the difference between a technology decision and a purchase someone else made for you.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you have an office in Brisbane?

Yes. Beyond Technology has an office in the Brisbane CBD, alongside our Sydney head office and an office in Perth, and has advised Queensland organisations for years. On-site time in South East Queensland costs you nothing extra.

We already have an IT provider. Is this a replacement?

No. We do not deliver support or implementation work, so we are not competing with your provider. We review the provider and the plan without wanting either job, and more often than not the finding is that nobody has been setting the direction, rather than that the provider is doing a poor job.

Is the first conversation free?

Yes, and there is no obligation attached. A consultant spends time on your environment and comes back with what they found. Take the findings and act on them yourself, hand them to your provider, or engage us. All three are fine outcomes.

Do you deliver the work you recommend?

No. Beyond Technology does not sell hardware or software, does not resell vendor products, and does not deliver implementation work. Every consultant holds an engineering qualification and an MBA, so the recommendation arrives in commercial terms and with nothing riding on it.
